In 2011, the descendants of the Fulton Family, early owners of the land upon which the Roger Williams University Bristol Campus sits, donated their family archive to the University Library. The archive consists of letters, documents and photographs describing the life and interests of a gentleman farmer in 19th Century New England. It is the story of the land and the people who stewarded it from the dairy farm “Ferrycliffe” to the Fulton Campus of Roger Williams University. This site is the beginning of an evolving story, one that touches the lives of RWU faculty, students, alumni, and staff, and beyond to the people of Bristol and the larger Rhode Island and New England community. We expect the content to expand as we add to it and hope that it provides a dialogic space for community input and engagement.
